Game Rules Text: When activated during an Activate Phase, Evade costs a player 20 Coins and allows players to draw a Boss card as their Draw for Turn and avoid the damage phase of the fight to immediately roll for rewards. Player may only use one per turn. Players may use Evade cards with a Memory card active. Given that the Evade card triggers a Boss card draw, use of this card skips player’s Draw Phase. Players cannot play an Evade after learning what the Boss is going to be

FAQ: This card can be activated during a Draw for Turn (when the player finds this) or during an Activate Phase as a card played from their hand, but this essentially means that a player is drawing a Boss as their Draw for Turn (even if they initially chose Shop deck for this Evade as their Draw for Turn). This comes into play when playing the Darius’ Study Arena, players would still draw three Boss cards after finding/using an Evade for turn. Evades may also be used against Emperors. There is a theoretical turn one win of the game that practically hinges on this happening (though we have still never seen it happen). The Evade is almost always a Coin loss against Warriors, particularly since they can be Bribed to the same effect for half the cost. Evades are best saved for key moments like a Proving Grounds, Gauntlet, Darius’ Study, or low-health Memory scenarios.
